Better Off

Ah, well the position papers were close to getting done; however the last paragraph stumped our progress. I woke at 8 to find people already awake, and none of them ready for our club's mock conference held later in the day. I've been listening to hiphop this night, just to try something different. It doesn't seem so mainstream anymore. It doesn't seem to bother me as much. I've struggled to write my thoughts down, but with little avail. I'm trying to get out of the formalities of a ModelUN paper. I can summarize the debate of Obama vs. Hilary, but it wasn't biggest part of my day. In past nights, I pushed off choosing a legislation to represent. The night before, I basically screamt, "forget all this!" I didn't plan in participating within the conference. I couldn't take the topic seriously, and as thought opinions backed with vague sources were repeated once and once more. As the state of California, it was suprising to find that Hilary won the popular vote. But then again US politics, I'm not one to keep up with it. Any assumptions, predictions, made only fall into two catagories for me: proven correct and proven false.
Most delegates provided inadequate reasons on why their candidate is preferred over the other. It solely annoyed me that none of what we brought to the table seemed convincing enough. Not all states were present during the conference, and single delegates also chose to be celebrity endorsers of a candidate. The majority of the club actively partipated in bashing each other. Both the chair and the delegates grew tired of such a quarrel. Resolutions were being carefully drafted during the unmoderated caucus. Victor came in and presented us with the story of the subsitute gavel prize, the pizza server. This was of course relating back to SCV, and the simple story of when we stole the prize from a pizzeria. A lunch break was not scheduled, but came when the club was allowed 30 minutes to grab some quick nourishment. Annie was the girl smart enough to bring flipflops. She didn't endure the inconvience of heels while we walked. The girls headed to Togo's and several of us came to Quickly's. I walked so slowly. Old music videos were still being played on the flatscreen. Within 30 minutes, it was unlikely that I could finish any big meal. I settled for the madeline cookies. We left Isabelle waiting for her order at Quickly's, but we made it back just on the dot.
Food and beverage was not previously allowed in the room, but the chair instructed us to place our doggie bags at the corner of the table if need be. It's not within our ModelUN spirit to waste food, "We are not to leave any burrito untouched."Resolution work continued. Alex(Maria Schriver) came in; he really missed everything. What a shame, well I just sat and watched him go on Limewire. His musical selections were what I would've picked out. I had a set image of Alex listening to only classical music previously. We presented two resolutions; primarily one for Clinton and one supporting Obama as Democrative representative. After voting bloc, things wrapped up nicely. Annie, Donna, Phuc and I headed outside the building.
I had a minor headache entering the conference; it still existed. Steven and Payam followed us to the back of the MLK. "Rock on!!!"as response to the sight of a skateboarder with a boombox in his hand. I was met with an odd stare. Payam greatly bothered us with his pridish anctics. We clearly outwit him. Donna gave me the rest of her burrito. It helped me ignore Payam slobbing the messy burrito. Donna suggested we go to Starbuck's; I seconded the motion. It would've been a better place to relax. We used faux names and ran incognito; obviously, the staff didn't pay mind to us. Donna's Green Tea with Strawberry Syrup beat my mediorce Green Tea blended Passionfruit. Mine was dissapointing. It sounded so nice, and yet it couldn't live up to its name. It's like our legislation of California today. Donna headed home. The rest of us had a nice talk on dating and the upcoming Sadie Hawkins' dance next month. Stomach aches were caused by my confusion and stress during the conversation. We saw Andrew today. Phuc had his mother drive him home; my dad eventually came. I was cold.
